bio

Flora Kapeller (2003) is a composer, pianist and vocalist based in Vienna who has never been interested in staying within one genre. From neoclassical piano, her first musical love, to film music, modern jazz, electronic influences, sound design and songwriting, Flora approaches music with curiosity, allowing different musical worlds to collide and something new to emerge. Her music moves between simple, intimate melodies and complex rhythms, dreamy patterns and unexpected sounds. At its heart lies a fascination with the emotions music can evoke.

Flora grew up in a musical household in the Austrian countryside, where music has always played a big role. At the age of four she began exploring the piano through improvisation before starting classical piano lessons one year later. Her musical path eventually led her to Vienna, where she studied Media Composition at the Vienna Music Institute. During an Erasmus semester at SRH Berlin she discovered her fascination with sound design and began experimenting with recording and editing her own sounds.

After completing her film music degree in Vienna, Flora spent seven months interning with Cologne-based composer duo Dürbeck & Dohmen, where she further developed her skills in film scoring, sound design and production skills. During this time she helped creating Fields, a virtual instrument by Cinematique Instruments, built around electromagnetic recordings and textures. She also contributed musically to the series Alpentod and with her voice to the Tatort episode Gottesgarten. Before and after her time in Cologne Flora worked with Stepan Sobanov on arrangements and audio productions.

Her work as a film composer includes original music for the short film Selva Adentro by the Costa Rican production company Destello Films, directed by Victor Vargas, which received recognition at shnit REALTIME 2025 and was a finalist at HorrorHound TV, as well as Lovelocked 2.0, an RTL student production directed by Red Kokici and Emilia Fezzuoglio.
